Privacy

Hing Hoi is an early research project. This page describes what we collect and why, in plain language. A Thai translation and a review by a qualified Thai privacy professional are still in progress — we would rather say so than imply otherwise.

The short version

• The website itself does not track you. Nothing is stored until you press start on the survey.
• We never store your IP address.
• There is no advertising, no third-party analytics, and no fingerprinting.
• You can delete everything we hold about you, yourself, from the survey.

What the survey stores

Your answers, the language you used, and coarse technical details — whether you are on a phone, tablet or computer, which browser and operating system family, and which link brought you here. Timestamps, so we know when a response arrived.

If you tick the optional analytics box, we also record which question you were on, how long a question was visible, and where people stop. These are about the questionnaire, not about you.

If you ask to be contacted, your contact detail is encrypted, stored separately from your answers, and never included in any export.

Deleting your answers

Open the survey and choose Delete all my answers. That removes your answers, the analytics events attached to them, and any contact detail you gave. It cannot be undone.

Why we are allowed to hold it (legal basis)

Under Thailand's Personal Data Protection Act we rely on your consent. You give it by pressing start on the survey, after being told what happens to your answers. The two optional tick-boxes — usage analytics and saving a draft on your device — are separate consents, off by default, and the survey works without either.

You can withdraw at any time by deleting your answers, described above. Withdrawing is as easy as giving consent, and costs you nothing.

Sending data outside Thailand

Your answers are stored outside Thailand. Our servers and database are operated by Railway in the United States, and the site is delivered through Cloudflare. Thailand has not designated the United States as providing an adequate level of data protection, so this transfer relies on your consent, given when you start the survey. If you would rather your answers were not sent abroad, please do not take part — and write to us if you have already answered and want them removed.

We are reviewing whether to move the database to a Singapore region to shorten that journey. This page will be updated if we do.

How long we keep it

Only as long as this research needs it. A final retention period is being set as part of the legal review below; until it is fixed, we do not delete on a schedule, and you can still delete your own answers at any time. Contact details are removed once the conversation they were given for has finished.

Your rights

Under the PDPA you can ask for a copy of your data, ask us to correct it, ask us to delete it, object to how it is used, or withdraw consent. Deletion is self-service in the survey; for anything else, write to us and we will respond.

Where the data lives

On servers operated by Railway, currently in the United States, with the domain served through Cloudflare. Only two named people can see the research dashboard, and both sign in with a passkey.

Who is responsible

Hing Hoi is run by Anawat "Aiai" Meepien in Bangkok, Thailand, who is the data controller — meaning the person who decides why and how your data is used, and who is answerable for it. Contact below.
